Have a great, game-changing idea? We are very excited to announce that we will be hosting the second Shark Tank event at MicroTAS 2018 since we all had a very good time last year. MicroTAS is the premier forum (with over 1000 participants from around the world) for reporting research results in microfluidics, microfabrication, nanotechnology, integration, materials and surfaces, analysis and synthesis, and detection technologies for life science and chemistry.
As you know, the biochip market is expected to grow to over USD 17 Billion by 2020. As a field, we have seen many successes already, and many of these commercial successes come from the researchers who are very active at MicroTAS.
No Extra Registration Fee!
Now we have a forum to showcase these newest breakthrough technologies. Finalists will compete in LIVE Shark Tank for thousands of dollars in prize money, in-kind services, and potential investments from VC’s. The final three teams will be awarded at the banquet. The prize would be $2,000 for gold medal, $1,500 for sliver medal, and $1,000 for bronze medal.
The Shark Tank event will be prominently showcased in the Main Auditorium at MicroTAS 2018 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, at 1100-1230 on November 13, 2018.
Confirmed Judges Include:
Allen Northrup, PhD, Founder of Cepheid and Microfluidic Systems
Peter H. Hsieh, GM, Arm Taiwan Limited
Brian Yenyi Ho, TWEMBA Founder, Taiwan
This competition is open to students, researchers, post-docs, and faculties. You do not need to have a company yet to compete, but filed intellectual property highly encouraged.
Finalists will receive complimentary registration to MicroTAS 2018.
Deadline to submit the optional one-page proposal by July 31, 2018, and the short pitch (video) by September 30, 2018. Finalists will be announced by November 11, 2018.
Good luck & we look forward to seeing your submissions!
Finalists will take the big stage at MicroTAS in front of prominent Shark Tank judges and the MicroTAS community to pitch their ideas live.
